Biografia: Joey DeMaio

Joey DeMaio é o baixista e um dos fundadores da banda em 1980. Filho de uma nativa americana, ele trabalhou como técnico de pirotecnia junto à banda Black Sabbath, durante a turnê do álbum Heaven and Hell. Joey é praticante de artes marciais e musculação, além de ser um grande fã de motocicletas Joey toca baixo de 4 e 8 cordas e é praticamente o único compositor das letras e músicas do Manowar.

Biografia: Karl Logan

Karl Logan substituiu Shankle e entrou no álbum "Louder than Hell" lançado em 1996, apesar de nunca ter tocado numa banda conhecida antes, se mostrou talentoso o suficiente para assumir o posto. Joey DeMaio conheceu o guitarista em uma loja de Harley Davidsons, quando havia levado a sua para consertar.

Biografia: Scott Columbus

Scott Columbus é o atual baterista da banda . Em 1983 ele entrou na banda para substituir Donnie Hamzik, que saiu após o álbum Battle Hymns. Columbus debutou no álbum Into Glory Ride e permanece na banda até os dias atuais, tendo saido apenas no álbum The Triumph Of Steel por problemas pessoais, sendo substituido por Kenny Earl "Rhino" Edwards, e retornando logo depoisno álbum "Louder than Hell" em 1996, desde então Scott esta até hoje na banda.

Scott Columbus falando um pouco de sua história para o site Novo metal em 2007: "Bem, antes do Manowar toquei em algumas bandas menores. Na verdade todas as bandas que eu toquei antes do Manowar, as pessoas me diziam que eu batia muito forte na bateria, eles diziam “você bate forte demais, tente bater mais de leve”, e então eu dizia para eles aumentarem o amplificador, pois eu tocaria do jeito que eu gosto de tocar (Risos). O que aconteceu com o Manowar foi “Isso cara, bata ainda mais forte!!” (Mais risos). Tive a chance de realmente tocar como gosto e me divertir bastante. Nos últimos anos estou trabalhando em um CD solo, chamado Instrumetal. Um CD instrumental de metal, sem vocais! Já estou com ele cerca de 80% pronto e talvez no ano que vem deva ser lançado.

É um pouco diferente do Manowar, mas é muito bom. É um bom disco para dirigir. Você se verá dirigindo em alta velocidade se estiver ouvindo ele (Risos)."

Biografia: Eric Adams

Eric Adams nascido em Auburn, Nova Iorque foi criado numa família de origem italiana. Eric começou a cantar aos 8 anos de idade. Sua primeira banda, se chamava "The Kids", que foi formada por ele e mais 3 garotos de Auburn.

Em 1965 eles lançaram um EP chamado "Meet The Kidz". Nos anos 70, Adams também participou de uma banda chamada "The Harlequins", e com eles também gravou um single. Eric, chegou à uma conclusão de que a cena não estava grande coisa, visto que como melhor banda de metal do ano havia sido escolhida o Journey. Daí surgiu o embrião do que viria a ser uma das maiores bandas de heavy metal de toda a história da indústria fonográfica.

Desde 1980 é vocalista do Manowar e também cuida das finanças da banda. Ele toca no Manowar desde o primeiro álbum, [[Battle Hymns]] lançado em (1982)

A voz de Eric Adams é considerada uma das melhores no gênero Heavy Metal (segundo boatos ele alcança 5.5 oitavas). Ele consegue segurar notas altas por mais de 40 segundos em seus shows.
Eric, fora do Manowar, fez o DVD "Aventuras na vida selvagem" (Wild life and Wild Times), que é sobre caça e pesca de animais selvagens; Adams é também profissional com o arco-e-flecha.

Biografia

No estilo do Manowar são claras duas influências. Primeiramente o seu estilo musical é obviamente derivado do heavy metal inglês clássico, como Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden e Judas Priest. Apesar de serem uma banda americana, renegam a música comercial de seu país e apenas aceitam como verdadeiro o heavy metal ao estilo britânico, o que fica claro no título do álbum "Hail To England" e faz com que a banda seja constantemente associada à New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (embora eles tenham surgido depois e do outro lado do oceano quando bandas como Saxon e Iron Maiden já eram veteranas).

A segunda influência clara da banda são as novelas de guerreiros bárbaros, vikings e deuses mitológicos (ao estilo Robert Howard de "Conan, o Bárbaro"), com a glorificação das batalhas justas e da morte gloriosa pela espada. A encarnação de bravos que lutam pelo verdadeiro heavy metal às vezes beira as raias do ridículo com a banda se vestindo como guerreiros em shows e assinando contratos de gravadoras com o próprio sangue.

Exageros à parte a fidelidade da banda e amor declarado ao heavy metal (tema constante em suas músicas) arrebata fãs fieis em todo o mundo. Sua qualidade musical e principalmente fidelidade a seu estilo são inegáveis. A abordagem constante aos mesmos temas de batalhas, espadas, sangue e amor à distorção e ao volume máximo jamais se tornaram enjoativas. Manowar é acima de tudo uma banda que desperta paixões.

A insistência em não mudar seu estilo muitas vezes resultou em serem despedidos de gravadoras, bem como retardou seu sucesso em sua terra natal. Atitudes irredutíveis de agressão a imprensa musical e a outras bandas, bem como algumas posições machistas compatíveis com sua filosofia tornam a banda ainda mais controversa.

O núcleo da banda é composto por Joey De Maio (baixista e principal compositor da banda) e Eric Adams (vocalista dos mais conceituados dentro do metal clássico). A formação mais clássica foi completada por Ross Friedman (guitarrista conhecido por The Boss, que havia tocado com os Dictators) e Scott Columbus (baterista).
